What is a Breasy

What is a Breasy

A messege from the founder's father, Darren Burton.

If you've ever experienced a panic attack, you'll know that it doesn't feel like "just anxiety" It can feel like your heart is racing out of control. Your breathing becomes fast and shallow. Your chest feels tight. Your hands might tingle. Your mind convinces you that something terrible is happening, even when you're completely safe. In that moment, people often tell you to"just take a deep breath."

Anyone who has lived through severe anxiety knows it's rarely that simple. That experience is exactly why Breasy was created. It started with one girl trying to help herself. Breasy wasn't designed in a laboratory. It was created by my daughter, Laura.

Laura has lived with severe anxiety and panic attacks since she was young. Like many people, she was taught that slowing her breathing could help calm her body during periods of anxiety. Every psychologist, doctor and mental health professional told her essentially the same thing:"Slow your breathing and your body will begin to calm down."

The advice was absolutely correct. The problem was putting it into practice. When anxiety is building or a panic attack is beginning, your body naturally wants to breathe faster and faster. Your heart races, your muscles tense, and your mind feels overwhelmed. In those moments, trying to consciously slow your breathing can feel almost impossible.

Laura often found herself thinking:"I know what I'm supposed to do... but I just can't do it."

She knew the science. She simply needed something that made it easier. Eventually a year later Laura accidently created Breasy (Read about that here) and after countless ideas, prototypes and testing, she created Breasy.

Breasy is a small handheld breath regulation device designed to naturally slow your breathing whenever you begin feeling anxious or notice the early signs of panic. You simply place it in your mouth and begin breathing through it. The controlled airflow creates gentle resistance it creates by encourages slower, deeper breaths, making it much easier to move away from the rapid, shallow breathing that often accompanies anxiety. As your breathing slows, many people notice that their body also begins to settle.

Breasy is designed to help you gradually slow your breathing without needing to concentrate on timing every inhale and exhale. As you become comfortable breathing through the device, you can increase the breathing resistance by covering the airflow openings using your fingers or the supplied rubber stoppers. This allows you to comfortably progress toward slower breathing rhythms at your own pace.

Our 3 Key Features

of the Breasy Original

1. Sound

As you breathe out through Breasy, it creates a soft, wind-like white noise. This sound can help reduce distractions and make it easier to focus on your breathing.

For some people, especially those with ADHD, white noise can also help maintain attention by providing a consistent sensory input. It can help drown out background noise and create a calmer environment to focus on your breathing.

2. Physical Sensation

The exit hole is positioned so that airflow is directed towards your cheek while you breathe. This creates a gentle cooling sensation on the face, providing an additional sensory cue that can help ground you in the present moment.

Many people experience warmth or hot flushes during anxiety. The gentle stream of cool air can provide a comforting sensation while helping keep your attention focused on your breathing.

3. Feeling

When we slow our breathing, we're sending a signal to our body that we're safe.

This helps activate the parasympathetic nervous system, often called our "rest and digest" system, which helps move the body away from a fight-or-flight state.

As this calming system becomes more active, many people notice reduced tension, a slower heart rate, and a greater sense of calm and control.
